
Much Shelist Announces New Principals
CHICAGO — June 8, 2005 — Chicago-based law firm Much Shelist recently announced the election of four associates to principal status, the elevation of an existing principal to equity status and the addition of one new principal.
David A. Alman (33), a principal in the corporate group, concentrates his transactional practice in corporate law, secured lending, and corporate finance and securities. In his corporate practice, Alman represents a diverse group of companies with acquisitions, joint ventures and other significant business transactions; commercial contracts; and compliance matters, including food labeling and advertising. In his secured lending practice, he represents both financial institutions and corporate borrowers in commercial loan transactions. Alman's corporate finance practice involves assisting companies in capital raising efforts through private offerings and venture capital transactions. He received a J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Illinois College of Law and a B.A. in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Stephen J. Cassin (51), a principal in the intellectual property group, handles a variety of commercial and intellectual property litigation, as well as consulting on general business and intellectual property matters. He has also worked as a nuclear engineer in both naval service and civilian industry. Cassin received a J.D. from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in general engineering and international security affairs from the United States Naval Academy.
Rachel E. Feldstein (33), a principal in the litigation group, concentrates in a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and other business torts, as well as trade secret, noncompete and intellectual property actions. She has represented clients in industries as diverse as real estate, consumer products, investor services, banking and manufacturing. Feldstein has also represented companies in product liability, toxic tort and negligence matters. She received a J.D. (cum laude) from Loyola University of Chicago and a B.A. (with distinction) from the University of Michigan.
Michael E. Moskovitz (34), a principal in the class action group, concentrates his practice in civil litigation. He represents clients in sophisticated class action and complex litigation matters in state and federal courts, with primary emphasis on matters involving antitrust violations, securities law and consumer fraud . Moskovitz received a J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. (with high distinction) from Indiana University.
Glenn D. Taxman (34), an equity principal in the real estate group, has led Much Shelist's Orange County, CA office for three years. In his real estate practice, Taxman works with owners, purchasers, landlords, tenants, investors, developers and other clients throughout the United States in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development of commercial/retail, industrial and residential property. In his secured lending practice, he represents both lenders and borrowers in the structuring, negotiating and funding of commercial loan transactions. He has additional corporate experience representing companies with loan workouts and restructurings. Taxman was named to Real Estate Chicago's "40 Real Estate Professionals Under 40 to Watch" in 2003. He received a J.D. (cum laude) from the John Marshall Law School and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Michael R. Wolfe (58), a principal in the real estate group, brings to the firm nearly 35 years of experience serving clients in all areas of real estate transactions and finance, including developments, purchases, sales, exchanges and leases. Wolfe concentrates his practice on the representation of commercial, residential and shopping center developers, and the representation of financial institutions in real estate-related loan transactions. Wolfe received a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and a B.S. from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Much Shelist, he was a vice president of Berger, Newmark & Fenchel, P.C. in Chicago, where he served for many years as head of the real estate department.
