Gregg M. Simon is Chair of the firm's Wealth Transfer & Succession Planning group. He concentrates his practice in estate planning, federal estate and gift taxation, probate and trust administration, and business planning.
IN THE PROFESSION
Gregg is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the Chicago and Illinois Bar Associations, the Chicago Estate Planning Council and the Greater North Shore Estate and Financial Planning Council. He is a past Chair and served on the Chicago Bar Association Trust Law Executive Committee from 1999 to 2006. He is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association's Probate Practice and Asset Protection Committees.
Gregg is a member of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago Professional Advisory Committee. He authored "Handling Closely Held Business Interests and Other Special Assets" for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education publication Estate Planning for Illinois Attorneys: The Basics and Beyond and is a frequent speaker on estate planning and estate administration topics.
A registered certified public accountant and a licensed real estate broker, Gregg has been named an Illinois Super Lawyer (2007-2009) and was included on "The Top 100" list for 2009. He has also been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top Illinois lawyer in the area of trust, will and estate planning law (2007-2008).
IN THE COMMUNITY
As a volunteer for the Pro Bono Guardianship Ad Litem Program, Gregg provides legal assistance to needy adults in the Cook County Probate Court. He is also a member of the Board of the International Music Foundation, which sponsors classical music in inner-city schools, Dame Mira Hess concerts and the Do-It-Yourself Messiah.
A Boston-qualified marathon runner, Gregg has run on behalf of the American Cancer Society, the American Liver Foundation, Children's Memorial Hospital and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
