Julie M. Hanusa is Chair of the Business & Finance group and head of the firm's Commercial Finance practice. She concentrates her practice in commercial finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and health care law.

Julie has extensive experience handling a wide variety of complex transactions on behalf of financial institutions, public and private corporations, and individuals. These include multi-million-dollar acquisitions, divestitures and a broad range of commercial financing transactions such as asset-based loans, loans based on cash flow, acquisition financing, syndicated credit facilities, loan participations and other creative financing arrangements.

In her health care law practice, Julie counsels clients on state and federal regulatory issues, including questions regarding physician self-referral, fraud and abuse, the corporate practice of medicine and licensing laws. She also advises physicians, physician groups and other health care providers on contract matters and business structuring.

IN THE PROFESSION

Julie is the co-author of "Enforcing Security Interests and Liens on Personal Property," a chapter in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education publication Creditors' Rights in Illinois (2004 edition).  She is also the author of "Sixth Amendment — The Co-Conspirator Exemption to the Hearsay Rule: The Confrontation Clause and Preliminary Factual Determinations Relevant to Federal Rule of Evidence 801(d)(2)(E)," published in the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology. While in law school, Julie was Associate Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology.

Julie is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, as well as the American and Chicago Bar Associations. She has also been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top Illinois lawyer in the areas of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and health law (2007-2008).
