AT WORK
A co-founder of the firm in 1970, Morrie Much is an experienced real estate and business lawyer who advises clients in virtually all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and represents companies and individuals in a broad range of other business matters. His clients include developers, investors, syndicators, brokers, banks, insurance companies, pension funds and mortgage bankers.
As owner's counsel, Morrie has purchased, sold, leased and financed real estate projects, including shopping centers, office buildings, and industrial and multi-family residential properties. On behalf of lenders, Morrie has structured construction loans and permanent mortgage loans for land development and for commercial, industrial and multi-family residential properties.
IN THE PROFESSION
Morrie has held multiple leadership positions within the Chicago Bar Association. He is a current member and past Chair of the Executive Council of the CBA's Real Property Committee. He has also served as Chair of the CBA's Continuing Legal Education Subcommittee, Contracts Subcommittee, and Land Development and Construction Subcommittee. Morrie is also a member of the Illinois State and American Bar Associations.
Morrie regularly lectures and moderates programs on real estate-related topics before a variety of groups, including the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers and the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.
Morrie has authored and periodically updated numerous articles for IICLE handbooks. He wrote "Enforcing Security Agreements" for Creditors' Rights and "Raising the Equity" for The ABC's of Real Estate Rehabilitation. He is the author of "Advising Banks on Consumer Regulation and Legislation" and the co-author of "Customers in Financial Difficulty," both published in the IICLE handbook Advising Illinois Financial Institutions.
Morrie previously authored "Trends in Real Estate Law," a column appearing in Real Estate News.
Morrie has been recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top Illinois lawyer in the areas of commercial real estate and real estate finance (2005-2008). He has also been designated an Illinois Super Lawyer (2005-2008), an honor given to the top 5% of attorneys in the state.
