Annabelle M. Pereira, an Associate in the firm's Business & Finance group, represents clients in corporate transactions, financings, securities and restructuring matters. Annabelle advises acquirers and target businesses in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, stock and asset purchases and sales, and contributions. She also counsels clients on formation, corporate governance, and compliance with corporate and industry regulations.
Annabelle regularly drafts agreements, amendments and ancillary documents relating to private equity financing, secured and unsecured bilateral debt financing, asset-based lending and structured financings. She works with lenders and creditors to resolve borrower defaults through negotiated workouts and litigation, and assists the litigation team in interpreting loan, transaction and other documents and in preparing complaints and motions. Annabelle is proficient in written and oral Spanish.
IN THE PROFESSION
Annabelle has served as a member of the Associate Board of the Chicago Committee for Minorities in Large Law Firms since 2007, and as the Associate Board representative of the organization's Talent Development Initiative Committee. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association, and is the author of numerous articles on legal subjects, including FDIC rules on private equity bank investments, Small Business Administration programs, and regulation of private equity and hedge funds.
While in law school, Annabelle received the Jon E. Krupnick Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy and the Thurgood Marshall Academic Achievement Award, and was regularly named to the Dean's List. She also was a member of Notre Dame Law School's semi-finalist team in the Midwest Regional Competition of the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition and served as Vice President of Financial Affairs for the Women's Legal Forum.
IN THE COMMUNITY
Annabelle is a member of the Notre Dame Club of Chicago, the University of North Carolina General Alumni Association and the Young Professionals of Chicago. Through these organizations and others, she is actively involved in a range of pro bono, community outreach and professional development programs throughout the Chicago area, including serving on the Professional Development Committee of the Young Professionals of Chicago.
