David M. Pilotto

AT WORK
David M. Pilotto, Co-Chair of the firm's Business & Finance group, concentrates his practice on business transactions, general business law, commercial finance and tax law. In the transactional area, Dave represents a diverse group of clients, from large, privately held businesses to small entrepreneurs and start-up companies, in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other business combinations and financial transactions. He also represents clients in the acquisition and disposition of distressed businesses. Dave regularly advises clients on corporate governance and organizational issues.
In the finance area, Dave represents financial institutions and borrowers in connection with commercial financing transactions, troubled loans, forbearance arrangements and restructuring of debt. A CPA with a strong background in business accounting, Dave earned Loyola University Chicago's Certificate in Taxation while in law school. In his tax practice, he provides guidance in transaction structures and federal tax planning for businesses and individuals.
IN THE PROFESSION
Dave is a member of the Chicago, Illinois State and American Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Middle Market and Small Business Committee, Mergers and Acquisitions Committee and International Business Law Committee of the American Bar Association and an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth. Dave is the author of "Navigating the Distressed M&A Market: A Primer for Middle-Market Businesses" and a co-author of "Enforcing Security Interests and Liens on Personal Property," a chapter in the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education's Creditors' Rights in Illinois (2004 edition).
