PRACTICE GROUP

AT WORK

Joseph M. Martin advises clients in a range of commercial finance matters, including cash-flow financing, asset-based financing, cross-border loan facilities and acquisition financing. He assists agents and individual lenders with the syndication of loan facilities, including drafting and negotiating agreements among lenders. A member of the firm's Financial Crisis Response Team, Joe also represents lenders and borrowers with respect to troubled loans, including forbearance agreements, the restructuring of credit facilities and dispositions of collateral.

Joe has advised clients regarding leveraged and synthetic leases, and the creation and implementation of securitization programs. He has also counseled clients regarding working capital financing, project financing and acquisition financing in a variety of sectors and industries, including retail, manufacturing, telecommunications, information technology, automotive finance and mining.

IN THE PROFESSION

While in law school, Joe was a member of the University of Illinois Law Review, was a recipient of the Harno Scholarship, and earned two American Jurisprudence Awards. He also served as a PILI Fellow for Business and Professional People for the Public Interest.

IN THE COMMUNITY

As a volunteer attorney for the Cabrini Green Legal Aid Clinic in Chicago, Joe advised and assisted individuals with the expunging and sealing of criminal records, conducted intake interviews at the clinic and the Cook County Jail, and represented clients in connection with petitions for executive clemency.
