Jeffrey L. Gansberg is an experienced bankruptcy and trial attorney with an extensive background in both the transactional and litigation aspects of insolvency, reorganization and creditors’ rights representations. Jeff represents debtors, trustees, creditors and creditors’ committees from a wide range of industries, including health care, travel, transportation, manufacturing, retail, insurance, entertainment and communications. He has represented clients in matters involving publicly traded Fortune 500 corporations, as well as middle-market, privately held and family-owned businesses.
Jeff counsels clients on all aspects of complex Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters, including asset purchases, preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, privacy issues and debtor-in-possession financing. He regularly represents clients in various state and federal district courts, including appellate courts. Jeff also has extensive mediation experience.
IN THE PROFESSION
Jeff is a member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Shortly after earning his law degree, Jeff served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable John D. Schwartz in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois. While in law school, he served as a Student Clinical Intern in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in St. Louis, Missouri, was a recipient of the Scholar In Law Award and served on the Moot Court Board.

Jeff is admitted to practice in Illinois and New Jersey, and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
