Jeffrey L. Gansberg Joins Much Shelist Creditors' Rights, Insolvency & Bankruptcy Practice

CHICAGO—Oct. 27, 2009—Chicago-based law firm Much Shelist announced the addition of Jeffrey L. Gansberg as Special Counsel in its Creditors' Rights, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice. Prior to joining Much Shelist, Gansberg was an Associate in the Chicago office of Wildman, Harrold, Allen & Dixon, and earlier in his career he was an Associate at Jenner & Block. Shortly after earning his law degree, Gansberg served as a Law Clerk for the Honorable John D. Schwartz in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

An experienced bankruptcy and trial attorney, Gansberg has an extensive background in both the transactional and litigation aspects of insolvency, reorganization and creditors’ rights representations. He represents debtors, trustees, creditors and creditors’ committees in a wide range of industries, including health care, travel, transportation, manufacturing, retail, insurance, entertainment and communications. Gansberg counsels clients on all aspects of complex Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy matters, including asset purchases, preference and fraudulent-transfer litigation, privacy issues and debtor-in-possession financing. He also has extensive mediation experience.

"Jeff brings a depth and breadth of experience that will help us handle the influx of large, complex Chapter 11 filings we are seeing nationwide and, more acutely, in the Northern District of Illinois," said Kurt M. Carlson, Chair of the Creditors' Rights, Insolvency & Bankruptcy practice at Much Shelist. "While business bankruptcies are up 91 percent nationally this year, Chapter 11 filings in this district have increased by about 600 percent. Jeff joins our experienced group of bankruptcy professionals who are committed to helping our creditor clients achieve every success possible in these filings and in those to come."

Gansberg holds a J.D. degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and a bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware.
