Much Shelist Welcomes Six Real Estate and Corporate Attorneys from Bronson & Kahn

Much Shelist, a full-service business law firm, is pleased to welcome six attorneys and two staff from Bronson & Kahn, a firm well-known in the Chicago market for its focus on real estate, corporate and hospitality law. The combination was finalized June 1, 2018. Much Shelist now has approximately 100 attorneys across its offices in Chicago and Irvine, Calif.

Founded 25 years ago by childhood friends Dan Bronson and Harlan Kahn, Bronson & Kahn brings to Much Shelist a diverse clientele, including entrepreneurs, startup ventures, closely held businesses and publicly traded companies, all of which now have access to expanded capabilities in the areas of litigation, tax, securities, intellectual property employment law and estate planning.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Bronson & Kahn team to our firm,” said Mitchell S. Roth, Co-Chairman of Much Shelist. “Given the similarities between our cultures, histories and clients, this was a natural fit. We look forward to collaborating, sharing best practices and continuing to deliver the high-quality legal and business counsel we’ve always provided to our collective group of clients.”

Bronson, who joins Much Shelist as a Principal, has 30-plus years of experience representing property owners and developers in a variety of real estate investment activities and construction projects, including raising capital, structuring multi-tiered joint ventures, negotiating construction loans, preparing construction documents and providing strategic advice throughout the life of a venture. He also has extensive experience in the development of mixed-use high-rise condominium projects, many of which have transformed Chicago's South Loop in recent years.

Kahn, who joins Much Shelist as a Principal, has more than three decades of experience counseling clients on a wide variety of business matters. He handles corporate and real estate transactions of all kinds, including acquisitions and dispositions, ordinary-course contract and lease negotiations, and the formation and startup of new businesses. He has a particular concentration on the hospitality sector, representing numerous restaurants, retailers and other high-profile clients in all aspects of their businesses.

“As we begin this new chapter, we appreciate the generous support of our clients and the Bronson & Kahn team, not to mention the warm welcome we’ve already received from Much Shelist,” said Bronson. “This exciting move gives us access to more resources, as well as a team of attorneys and staff that will allow us to deepen our bench, better serve our clients and contribute to the continued growth of our new law firm home.”

Also joining Much Shelist are Principals Michael Zalay and Max Kanter and Special Counsels Marc O’Brien and Jason LaBella, adding further depth to the real estate and corporate law capabilities of the combined firms. Two staff members have made the move to Much Shelist as well.

“When Dan and I started our firm 25 years ago, we wanted to grow our business by putting clients first and making Bronson & Kahn a great place to work for attorneys and staff,” said Kahn. “Flash forward 25 years, and we’ve achieved those goals. But as we’ve grown, so have our clients and their needs. Joining forces with Much Shelist, a firm with such robust business and professional development opportunities, allows us to better serve our clients and the attorneys we want on our team.”
